With a degree in mining engineering, Nicole has over 25 years’ experience in the resources sector. After starting her career as an underground coal miner, Nicole went on to hold a number of technical and consulting roles until taking on her current position as General Manager – Business Development and Technical Services for Glencore Coal Australia in 2013.
Glencore is one of the world’s largest coal producers, and in Australia produces 100 million tonnes from 17 operating sites. In her role, Nicole leads a team of technical and commercial professionals responsible for the evaluation of acquisition and merger opportunities, identification of organic growth projects and provision of technical support to the mining operations.
Nicole is a member of the JORC Committee, Chair of the AusIMM Hunter Region branch, sits on a number of industry advisory boards for tertiary mining education and is a mentor in the Women in Mining Network Mentoring program. She is also a proud advocate for the HunterWiSE initiative, encouraging female high school students to pursue a career in STEM. In 2018 Nicole was named Exceptional Woman in NSW Mining at the NSW Minerals Council awards and was Highly Commended in the Women in Resources National Awards. Nicole was also selected as part of Women in Mining UK’s 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining for 2018.
