Matthew Peacock is a geologist who has worked in exploration and mining for more than five years.
Graduating from the Australian National University with a BSc in 2012 and BSc (Honours, First Class) in 2016, Matthew has worked across multiple commodities including iron ore, copper and gold in South Australia and New South Wales. Matthew was instrumental in the discovery of the Iron Baroness and Iron Empress deposits in the Middleback Ranges of South Australia for Arrium Mining (now SIMEC Mining).
Since leaving Arrium in 2016, Matthew has worked for Sandfire Resources exploring for porphyry copper-gold deposits in the Lachlan Fold Belt in central NSW.
Matthew is an Associate member of the AusIMM, joining the Institute in the second year of his studies. Since then he has been President of the Brindabella Student Chapter (ACT, 2011-2012) and Vice Chair of the Eyre Peninsula Branch (SA, 2014-2016).
Matthew is soon to be a dad and is looking forward to the challenges of parenthood whilst continuing his rewarding career in the mining and exploration industry.
