Leonard Rowe currently heads AME’s business development division, providing detailed technical support to AME’s broad client base in Australia and Asia. He provides market updates and contexts on commodity markets to many organisations including investment banks, producers and commodity traders, specialising in the bulk commodities.
Throughout his career, Leonard has continued to be involved with the AusIMM. He has served as a volunteer on the AusIMM Hunter Valley, Mt Tom Price and Sydney Branch Committees where he has led many AusIMM initiatives and projects. This includes mine site visits, graduate development functions, speaking at student functions in Hong Kong and coordinating AusIMM events on fly in, fly out sites.
Before joining AME, Leonard worked as a mining engineer with BHP and Rio Tinto across copper, iron ore and coal operations in Australia. He has a vast knowledge of autonomous haulage systems, drill and blast, mine design, scheduling, grade control and managing open pit operations. Prior to joining AME, Leonard was also involved in mine to port supply chain optimisation for Yandi iron ore fines, with a focus on iron ore blending requirements. Leonard looks forward to continuing to work with the AusIMM Sydney Branch to develop networking opportunities for students with industry.
