Kubra began her studies in Mining Engineering at Monash University in 2015, but later changed to Civil Engineering to pursue a career as a geotechnical engineer.
She has already been involved with a range of different activities and has gained practical industry experience showcasing her professional skills. In the summer of 2017, Kubra completed a geotechnical engineering internship with BHP, and she has also completed an internship with Paccar Australia. Both opportunities provided Kubra with industry experience and gave her the chance to test drive her career path and learn about her strengths.
Kubra has also been secretary of the Monash University Mining Club. She has been a member of AusIMM since 2016 and was a Student Engagement Officer for the student chapter in 2017. In this role, she encouraged students from different universities and institutes to get involved, organising events and industry nights. Kubra represented Melbourne at the National Mining Games held in Brisbane in 2016.
As a member of AusIMM, Kubra has welcomed opportunities for growth and development in her future career as a geotechnical engineer.
