Kate joined the AusIMM in 2013 and since then has played a visible role across several areas. She is entering her third year as Chair of the AusIMM Women in Mining Network (WIMnet), is the Immediate Past Chair of AusIMM WIMnet South Australia and is a current committee member of the AusIMM Mining Society. Kate is a passionate attendee and presenter at AusIMM conferences and events, a regular writer in Institute publications and has passionately contributed to the organisation’s diversity and inclusion journey over the last few years. She is a regular mentor of new professionals within our industry across Australia, participating in a number of programs each year, and has played a critical role in establishing and continuing to build the successful WIMnetSA/WinRSA mentoring program.
Before becoming the Chief Operating Officer of Neutrog Australia last year, Kate ran her own mine management consulting business after working for BHP for a number of years in a variety of roles. She has spent much of her career working with senior mining leaders and their teams to improve their bottom line through more effective business processes. Kate has a broad range of experience from operational, project and consulting roles across a number of industries and has degrees in marketing, international studies and mine management. She is also a qualified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt and has proven skills across a range of areas, including strategic planning, management system development and implementation, diverse team leadership, organisational culture, and operational improvement. As well as her involvement in the AusIMM, Kate is a non-executive director of Variety the Children’s Charity.
