Ivy Chen

Ivy is a Principal Consultant with CSA Global Pty Ltd, as well the founder of boutique mining corporate consultancy GeoReg Mining and Compliance. She is a corporate governance specialist, with 30 years’ experience in mining and resource estimation and consulting.  She is a member of the Australian mining industry VALMIN Committee for valuation of mineral assets, and a graduate of the AICD Company Directors course.

Ivy served as the national geology and mining adviser for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) from 2009-2015, supervising the reviews of risk disclosure by mineral and energy companies, particularly Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed companies, and reviewing new company floats, mergers, takeovers and schemes of arrangements. She is a technical adviser on mining for the Australian Pacific Stock Exchange (APX, now known as the Sydney Stock Exchange). She has also built an online and retail premium wine business, based in Margaret River.

Ivy was heavily involved in the ASIC contribution to the JORC 2012 update, and the review of the ASX Chapter 5 Listing Rules update for mining and oil and gas reporting, which was concurrent with the JORC 2012 update. Ivy was awarded an Australian Public Service Australia Day medallion in 2013 in recognition of this service.

Ivy’s experience in the mining industry in Australia and China, as an operations and consulting geologist, includes open pit and underground mines for gold, manganese and chromite. As a consulting geologist she has conducted mineral project evaluation, strategy development and implementation, through to senior corporate management roles. Her experience in operations and consulting in Australia and China translates to practical application of cultural differences in business development, governance and transparency.

Ivy was chair of the AusIMM Perth Branch from 2014-15 – possibly the first woman to do so. In 2018, Ivy was elected to the AusIMM Board for the period 2019-2021.

She is also a non-executive director of Battery Minerals, an ASX-listed diversified mining development and minerals exploration company with a focus on its two graphite development assets Montepuez and Balama located in Mozambique.  Ivy is also a director of  Multicultural Futures, a not-for-profit organisation providing a base for support services and facilities for migrants and refugees in the Perth region, and promoting greater awareness of their needs and cultural backgrounds among local service providers and the community.
