Greg Chalmers, who graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering(Min), has been a member of the AusIMM for 45 years and in 1997 he was made a Fellow.
Greg joined the AusIMM Council in 1995 and when the Council was replaced by an elected Board in 2001, he was elected an inaugural member of that Board and served continuously on it until 2012. Greg was elected AusIMM President in 2009 and for a second term in 2010, finishing up his extended Board contribution as Immediate Past President in 2012.
Greg is the Chief Executive Officer of Jellinbah Group, a privately-owned, independent Queensland-based export metallurgical coal company with operations in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Jellinbah Group exports 15.0 Mt/a to customers throughout north and south-east Asia, India, South America and Europe. He also holds Board positions on a number of other industry and allied organisations.
Throughout his career, Greg has been an active member of the AusIMM and has served on branch committees for Southern Queensland, Broken Hill, Central Queensland and the Hunter Region. He has served on most, if not all, AusIMM Board committees, and has chaired many of these, some for extended periods. After 15 years of participating in the Awards Committee, principally as Chair, he recently passed the baton and stepped down from that role but remains an active member of the Ethics Committee.
Greg was awarded the Beryl Jacka award in 2011 and Honorary Fellowship in 2016.
