Celebrating 125 years

The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2018. To recognise this extraordinary milestone, a dedicated program of events, celebrations, activities and media campaigns is being delivered with involvement from industry leaders from across Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

As the peak body for professionals working in the resources sector, the AusIMM has a rich history of supporting innovation, leadership and professional development. Join us in our 125th anniversary year as we acknowledge the achievements, perspectives and contributions of the wonderful people who make up this important industry.

Our rich history

On the 6th of April, 1893 the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy held its first inaugural meeting in Gawler, South Australia. Since then, the institute has grown and developed and is now recognised as the trusted voice and peak body for professionals in the resources sector.

AusIMM is also internationally recognised for its professional standards and integrity upheld by its members. As part of the 125 year celebration program we will be looking back on our rich history, recognising key milestones and highlighting some of the amazing stories that make our industry what it is today.
