Jared is General Manager, Technical Development for Rio Tinto Growth & Innovation. He has an honours degree in metallurgical engineering from RMIT, a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Melbourne, and over 20 years of service with Rio Tinto having joined as a metallurgical engineer in 1997.

Jared has 25 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams with deep experience providing value-chain based operational and productivity improvement, technical innovation and studies guidance across a wide range of commodities. He has worked extensively in Southern Africa, North America and Australasia, and has served as a joint venture shareholder representative.

Jared is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also passionate about investing in our next generation of industry professionals serving as Chairman of the AusIMM Education Endowment Fund (EEF) and as a member of the Minerals Tertiary Education Council (MTEC).
