Gerard Rheinberger is the Managing Director for Rio Tinto’s global studies group based in Brisbane.  This recently formed group has accountability for delivery of selected order of magnitude, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for Rio Tinto’s growth and closure projects.

Prior to this Gerard led the Project Generation Group within Rio Tinto Exploration, which housed global commodity, ore body knowledge and technical specialists and the data and information management function.

Gerard is a geologist who has held a number of positions in the Rio Tinto Exploration Group over the past 30 years in Australia and overseas. He has experience in multiple commodities and all phases of the exploration process from generative programs and grass roots exploration to advanced project evaluation studies.

Gerard has been a member of the AUSIMM since 1995.
