Gabrielle Iwanow

Gabrielle was appointed to the role of General manager, Paraburdoo operations in August 2015, living and working in Paraburdoo which is a small town located about 1,500 kilometres north of Perth.

In her role, Gabrielle has direct line accountability for around 700 people, producing 25 million tonnes of iron ore per year from three open cut mines. During her time at Paraburdoo, she has driven an agenda focused on asset integrity and operational excellence, underpinned by valuing people and safety.

Gabrielle joined Rio Tinto in 2005 and has worked for the Aluminium and Iron Ore Product Groups and internationally across different Group functions and operations since then. She was the Business executive to then Chief executive, Sam Walsh.

Gabrielle is an avid supporter of the arts and charity sectors, as a partner of the Sydney Dance Company, as well as contributing to Meals on Wheels. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Monash University, and a Bachelor of Business (BBusComm) from Queensland University of Technology. She is a Lean Six Sigma green belt. Gabrielle was awarded an Australian Government Office of Women Board Diversity scholarship in 2015.

Gabrielle speaks English, as well as Spanish having lived and studied in Argentina.
