Debra Stirling

Debra Stirling is a company director and senior executive with more than 20 years’ national and international experience in mining, building and construction materials, manufacturing, agriculture, retailing and property development and management.
Ms Stirling has served as a senior executive in four ASX Top 20 companies – Coles Myer, CSR, Rinker and Newcrest Mining. At Newcrest, she was Executive General Manager, People & Communications, until the second half of 2014.
She was responsible for HR and Communications in a workforce of 20,000 people, across three continents.

Newcrest was awarded the Randstad Australian Employer of the Year and Best Employer in the Resources and Mining Sector in 2012, and won the latter award again in 2013.

Prior to Newcrest’s merger with Lihir Gold in 2010, she was also responsible for corporate and government affairs, investor relations, and global community relations and environmental affairs.

In 2011, Ms Stirling was appointed a non-executive director of Federation Limited, now known as Vicinity Limited – the second largest owner and manager of retail shopping centres in Australia, and an ASX Top 30 company. Vicinity manages around $23 billion in assets, including the iconic Chadstone Shopping Centre. She is a member of the HR & Remuneration and the Risk & Compliance Committees, and was previously on the Audit & Risk and Nominations Committees, until retiring from this position in November 2017.

She was previously an Executive Director of Lihir Gold Limited and is a member of the PNG Government’s Lae Training & Development Centre of Excellence Taskforce. She is also Chairman of the Monash University Mining & Resources Advisory Board and a member of the Board of Mission Australia.
